Debut gig for Portsmouth's most anticipated tribute band. You'll recognise Rob (Singer) and Louis (drummer) from the hugely successful Rage Against The Machine UK who not only drew massive crowds in the Hampshire area, but were a hit on a national scale as well.
Rob & Louis hooked up with guitarists Tim and Sparky, and bassist Stevey, all highly talented and well known musicians. And so Jar of Flies was born. A tribute to one of the greatest, most influential grunge bands ever.

I never had the pleasure of seeing Alice In Chains with Layne Stayley, but I did see them in 2006 with William DuVall, which was a bloody amazing gig, however, they didn't have that dark, brooding edge that overwhelms you when listening to their early albums, which is understandable- Cantrell just wants to make decent music, he doesn't want to find another Layne.

This, in my opinion, is where Jar of Flies find their niche. They play with that moody energy that old Alice conveyed so hauntingly in their albums, and Rob manages to respectfully imitate Layne's vocals so accurately that it's downright spooky.

But don't take my word for it, find out for yourself, check out their Myspace page and see when they're playing next.
